My song, "What Comes Next?" was very interesting to make. I knew I wanted to make my song upbeat and exciting to listen to, but it was hard to make that happen with everyday sounds and not knowing audition very well. Since I faced these struggles while making the piece, I got a little frustrated. I was upset that it didn't sound the way I wanted it to. Then I took a step back, and realized I don't have to take myself so serious. I can have fun with this piece instead of making it some masterpiece that I felt I couldn't accomplish.
Once I started having more fun with the piece, I found other things I could do to make my song more fun. I discovered that layering the sounds, cutting the sounds and overlapping them, and putting the sounds on a loop helped. Another aspect that was hard for me was making sure the whole piece had a lot of variation. Four minutes and 33 seconds is a lot of time to fill up, so it took a lot more effort to make the song interesting than a shorter time would be. Adding my voice and other voices would make the piece more fun to listen to and add some variation. A lot of parts in the song probably sounded like there wasn't much intention behind it, but I did that to make the song more upbeat and fun. Random can be fun! I found that a lot of the class agreed that you could tell I was having fun while making this song, which is true.
